This is a view from under Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach, Florida. I have wanted to capture this photo for a long time! I was inspired by my mentor Serge Ramelli who has a similar view. Recently I put together a photography workshop Serge taught in Florida, and we stopped at this pier at blue hour to capture long exposures. The good light only lasted a short time so I quickly set up my tripod to capture the light before it disappeared. I am so happy I finally got this photo! Pier 60 is a beautiful pier with an incredible view of the Gulf of Mexico. This white sandy beach is rated as one of the top beaches in Florida. I also have a black and white version of this image. This photo is an HDR where I blended 3 photos of different exposures together to capture all of the details.

I have been to the Venice Fishing Pier in Venice, Florida many times at sunset, and each time I go the sky and water are different. The sky colors and water patterns create endless creative possibilities. The skies here in Florida are quite dramatic and spectacular, especially in the summer rainy season. But some sunsets really stand out from the others. Last night when I took this photo was one of them. It was an incredible moment of color.. When the sun came below the clouds, the sky burst into layers of bright colors from purple, pink, orange, and yellow. It was like a painter took her palette of paints and swiped it across the sky. This was a very long exposure at 13 seconds to soften the water and make a dreamy look. A couple stand together at the end of the pier looking out to the Gulf of Mexico, absorbing this incredible moment. It's a sunset to remember. Venice Beach Lifeguard Stand, Florida

Venice is an amazing city in Florida. It sits on the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast and has a beautiful beach, jetty, and pier. You have a couple places at the coast to watch beautiful sunsets each night. Venice is just south of Sarasota and is near Englewood, Nokomis, and North Port. This photo was taken at Venice Beach. It portrays the quiet peacefulness you feel on the beach at sunset. As the sun goes down the sky lights up with beautiful colors, and an aqua lifeguard stand catches some of the light. A sailboat sails off into the distance, silhouetted against the bright warm colors of the sky.

A Perfect Morning in Nokomis, Florida

I love this view in the morning! I can see the sun rising over the horizon from this spot. I am standing at North Jetty Park in Nokomis, Florida looking over the bay towards Snake Island and the city of Venice. It's a popular place for locals to relax and watch boats go by. The north and south jetties are just around the corner. Nokomis is in-between Sarasota and Venice on the Gulf Coast of Florida. On this morning my husband and I arrived very early when it was still dark so we could set up our cameras and be ready when the sun peeked over the horizon. As we got our gear ready all of a sudden hundreds of fish started jumping out of the water. A large fish was chasing them. It was quite a sight seeing so many fish jump entirely out of water all at once, and then hearing all the splashes! It was still dark but we had enough light reflecting on the water that we could see it! The sailboat sitting in the calm water was so beautiful. It was a very peaceful morning. I love how the sun is coming over the horizon stretching warm colors across the sky and brightening the water. I also love how this incredible tree frames the scene gracefully.

Mystical Evening at Venice Fishing Pier, Florida, BW

This is my favorite place to photograph. The view under the Venice Fishing Pier is like looking out into eternity. Standing there with my feet in the sand, the waves tunneling down through the pier and towards me at the beach, hearing the waves and watching the water patterns in the sand as the water pulls back into Gulf... seeing the glow of the mist spraying into the air as waves tumble... this is my happy place. The photograph opportunities are endless. I edited this photo in a monochromatic look to bring out a mysterious mystical feel. Milky Way at Venice Beach, Florida

My husband and I woke up really early one morning to photograph the Milky Way at 3:30 am. We knew it was in the southwest area of the sky, so after our eyes adjusted to the darkness we were excited to see it! I used the lifeguard stand as the foreground element. This is at Venice Beach in downtown Venice, Florida. It sits on the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast. Venice is a historical town built in the 1920's with Mediterranean architecture and a quaint charming downtown. Venice is known for their love of the arts, and is the shark tooth capital of the world. Fossilized sharks' teeth can be found on the beaches here. Venice is south of Sarasota and north of Englewood. This image was created by layering 4 different photos of different exposures taken at the same time. If you zoom into the image you can see 3 different shooting stars.

Ethereal Sunset at Caspersen Beach, Venice, Florida

As the waves push onto the green mossy rocks a long exposure photo smooths out the force creating a peaceful and calm mood. The sun is setting behind purple clouds, beaming out light rays above and below. It is getting closer to the horizon. The sky is turning orange and purple, the water is an ethereal blue. Two lines of rocks stretch out towards the sun in the far distance looking like a mysterious creature lurking in the water. I am alone on the beach and have this beautiful moment all to myself. It's very tranquil. This is Caspersen Beach, a beautiful beach at the southern tip of the coastal town of Venice, Florida. People often walk along the sandy beach searching for fossilized sharks' teeth. Just north of here is the large Venice fishing pier and Sharky's Restaurant, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Venice is just south of Sarasota in Sarasota County in southwest Florida. Nearby towns are Englewood, North Port, Port Charlotte and Osprey.

I waited months to take this photo. I knew on a very specific day and time that the sun would set centered right at the very end of the Venice Fishing Pier in Venice, Florida. As the day grew closer I watched the weather and was thrilled the cloud percentage would make it a beautiful sunset that night. I got there early and found other photographers waiting to capture this very special moment. It was important to stand lined up centered with the pier, so we all stood behind each other at different heights with our tripods. I was in the very front at the lowest level to the water, with my knees in the sand. This actually benefited me because I got much closer to the water for a stronger image. Afterwards I went to the side by myself and captured this image as a very long exposure around 4 seconds. I love how it stretched the clouds in the sky and softened the water. The soft pastel colors were breathtaking! I love the warm yellows of the golden light and bright aqua color of the Gulf of Mexico. Wave Impressions at Venice Fishing Pier, Florida

This is a very special photo of the Venice Fishing Pier because it is the first time I photographed it after Hurricane Ian and it still stands strong as ever. The storm was on September 28, 2022 and it impacted Venice, Florida with 18-24 inches of rain and very high winds up to Category 4. I wanted to soften the water so I did a longer exposure and am so happy with the result: it looks like an impressionist painting! I love the soft pastel colors and the texture of the water. It just glistens in the warm light of sunset! I captured this moment just as the sun peeked below the deck of the pier. Visitors are silhouetted against the warm sky and are all there enjoying this last moment of warm sunshine for the day. Standing here by the Venice Fishing Pier in Florida is one of my favorite places to take photos. I love looking out into infinity and hearing the waves as they come in, feeling the sand in-between my toes, the salty sea breeze blowing through my hair. I watch each moment of light change as the sun drops below the horizon. This inlet opens to the Gulf of Mexico and faces west, so it is an incredible place to watch the sunset. It is a very popular place for tourists and locals to enjoy the water.
