Caspersen Beach is just down the road where fossilized sharks teeth can be found. This is one of the most popular landmarks in Venice. On this night the clouds hung low enough to the horizon that when the sun came down below them the color burst into very bright colors.

It portrays the quiet peacefulness you feel at sunset. A few people are fishing watching the colors of the sky change. As the sun goes down the sky lights up with beautiful colors and the water catches some of the light. A sailboat comes in from the distance, silhouetted against the bright warm colors of the sky.

Big Red at Blue Hour With Sailboat, Holland, Michigan

In Holland, Michigan stands a beautiful big red lighthouse on a channel that connects Lake Michigan with Lake Macatawa. "Big Red" is also known as Holland Harbor Light. The original structure was built in 1872 and the current structure was built in 1907. It has a gabled roof which reflects the Dutch influence in the area. This is a view of the lighthouse across the channel from Holland State Park at blue hour right after sunset.

You can see the marina surrounding Marina Jack's restaurant. The glass building in the center is One Sarasota Tower which houses businesses like Raymond James and Morgan Stanley. The moon shines over the glassy water of the bay which glows with the reflection of the city. The lights of the city are on showing the vibrant life of the city at night. The nearby Ringling Bridge connects Lido Key, Bird Key, and Longboat Key to Sarasota. The views from the bridge are amazing as you cross the water. Sarasota is a beautiful and vibrant city on the Gulf of Mexico, just south of Bradenton and north of Venice.

Stillness Over Sarasota Bay, Florida

This is a view of the Sarasota, Florida skyline from Lido Key. The water of the bay is very calm creating a glassy reflection of the sky and city. The Ringling Bridge connects Lido Key, Bird Key, and Longboat Key to Sarasota. The views from the bridge are amazing as you cross the water. It is early in the morning at sunrise, and the sky is turning yellow and orange with the warm glow of the sun as it moves above the horizon. A sailboat sits peacefully in the still water of Sarasota Bay. This is an HDR panorama created by merging 20 photos together. The Tiff File is 368.07 MB and the dimensions are 13555 x 4745 pixels.

This photo was taken at the Venice Fishing Pier next to Sharky's and Fins restaurants. It was a windy night so the surf was higher than usual. As the hazy sun went down the sky turned golden in color. The surf rolling onto the beach created changing patterns across the sand. I never get tired of the sunsets here in Florida! They are so beautiful.

In 1932 the Kentucky Military Institute moved here for their winter classes, and it helped the city of Venice recover after the Depression.
